OSU Engineers Without Borders work to make to rural communities self-reliant
Many rural mountain communities in South America are living without accessible potable water. OSU's chapter of Engineers Without Borders has taken on a project to solve this problem. In the time frame of a year, from 2006 to 2007, EWB at OSU sent members on three trips to the El Naranjito and Las Mercedes communities in El Salvador to assess the problem of water accessibility.

Men's Ultimate Disc Club puts on first ever Championship Kickoff

Teams competed only against other OSU players, some high schoolers
With names like Lizard Frenzy, Justice League of America, and the Flying Squirrels, intrigue may be hard to avoid. This past weekend, OSU's Men's Ultimate Disc Club presented the first annual Fall Ultimate Championship Kickoff. The championship showcased 12 teams, 11 of them from OSU and one high school team from Crescent Valley.

Local event put on for the last 14 years seeks to eliminate hunger in local communities
A giving mood may lead to attending The Magic Barrel: A Reading to Fight Hunger. "Every penny goes directly to the Linn-Benton Food Share," said Marjorie Sandor, an OSU professor of English who is reading at the event. "Each dollar translates into 15 pounds of food," Sandor said.
