Superbowl XLII - Clodfelter's style

Patrons gather at local pub to watch Superbowl on big screen
Leighton Nichols and his friends have been coming to the Clodfelter's pub every Sunday for the past 20 years. This year's Super Bowl was no exception. The six men were part of a crowd of about 20 that gathered at the Monroe bar. Most of the guests were cheering for the New England Patriots, including Nichols' table.

Stepping for pride

A few of OSU's fraternities and sororities showed off their moves Saturday night during the King and Queen of the Yard Tournament. Students stepped, strolled and chanted to showcase their pride in each respective fraternity and sorority. Stepping is a historical form of communication and storytelling that is widely performed by fraternities and sororities that belong to the National Panhellenic Council - consisting of traditionally African American national sororities and fraternities, according to the Baylor University website.

Civil unions now reality for Oregon

Oregon's same sex-couples had something to celebrate this past Friday afternoon. U.S. District Judge Michael Mosman rejected a lawsuit that sought to block Oregon's domestic partnership law and force the issue to be decided in a public vote. Starting today, same-sex couples can start signing up for domestic partnership, which would entitle them to the same duties and benefits that married couples receive, according to an article in The Oregonian.

Conference hopes to educate and unite

Students of color gather for three days of workshops covering topics such as sexuality, affirmative action
Inspiration and empowerment were just two of the goals mentioned at the 7th annual Oregon Students of Color Coalition Conference that was held at OSU this weekend. Over 300 people who identified themselves as students of color met to attend more than 60 workshops and listen to several national keynote speakers over a three day period at OSU.
