Jackie Balzer, dean of student life at OSU for the past five years, will be leaving the OSU faculty at the end of spring term. Balzer has accepted a position as vice provost of student affairs at Portland State University and attributes her choice to career advancement.

Halsell Hall to allow mixed gender roommate pairings

Beginning next year Halsell Hall will allow students to have roommates of another gender
Beginning in the 2008-09 school year, Halsell Hall will officially become the first residence hall at OSU to allow gender-inclusive apartment-style living, according to the UHDS housing website. This provision will allow students to live with the person of their choice, regardless of gender.

John Prendergast, prominent author and human rights activist, is speaking at OSU tonight in regard to the ongoing conflict in Darfur. As a former White House adviser for the Clinton administration, Prendergast has established himself as one of the most powerful and outspoken people on genocide and African conflicts.

National 4-H selects OSU for honors

Parents, students, biologists volunteer to focus on youth development, outdoors
It's all about the volunteers for the 4-H Wildlife Stewards program, a working program model that is being recognized for the 4-H Natural Resources Conservation Award. The award was given to the 4-H Wildlife Stewards program on March 26. The award was presented by the national 4-H organization.
