OSU prof appointed as head of NOAA
Obama taps Professor Jane Lubchenco to become first female head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
President-elect Barack Obama has tapped OSU professor Jane Lubchenco to head the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Lubchenco will be the first woman to head the organization. The NOAA encompasses half of the work force of the Department of Commerce and has a budget of roughly $4 billion, according to "The Oregonian.
Studio 208 takes students to professional level
Year-long competitive class of ten students collaborates to make real graphic design products for professional clients
The graphic design program at OSU is recognized as being one of the most competitive design programs in the state.
The program has also gained recognition as one of the top undergraduate programs in the Northwest.
Students in the program with senior standing have the opportunity to apply for Studio 208, which is a fully-functional, student-run graphic design studio located in Fairbanks Hall.

While Portland was buried in more than 18 inches of snowfall, Corvallis was battling inclement weather of its own.
A recorded 18.9 inches of snow at the Portland airport wreaked havoc on services throughout the Willamette Valley.
"It was a big week full of aggravation," said OSU spokesman Todd Simmons.
