The ASOSU office was filled yesterday morning with students trying to submit their applications early enough to be considered for the MealBux program. Using funds collected from student fees, ASOSU's Social Resources Committee provides students with the opportunity to receive up to $250 on their OSU ID cards for food.

Study by Joseph Catania links certain behaviors to high rates of childhood sexual abuse
A recent study by an OSU professor determined that childhood sexual abuse causes many survivors to cope with the trauma in negative ways, such as engaging in drug use and risky sexual behavior. This behavior contributes to the spread of HIV. According to the Center for Disease Control, male-to-male sexual contact accounted for 16,001 out of the 36,190 estimated new cases of HIV/AIDS in the United States in 2006.

Corvallis Parks and Recreation has many year-round volunteer opportunities that are adaptable to almost every interest, schedule and ability, some of which are marketed specifically to get college students involved with kids and the community. Many one-day volunteer opportunities include cleaning up Central Park, serving meals at the Senior Center, planting flowers or shrubs and working booths at various festivals.
