The COAST washes cares away
May 5 marks the day that Canadian indie rock band The Coast releases its debut full-length album, "Expatriate." The foursome from Ontario has been growing in popularity around Toronto for years, and Afternoon Records is finally helping them get a CD out.
The Coast tries to bring a funky style to the indie rock scene with mellow melodies that make for easy listening.
Local bands wow crowd at 'The Beatles at OSU'
While no one can ever perform quite like the Beatles did in the '60s, a cover band performing in Milam Hall on Friday April 24 still brought audience members to their feet for a standing ovation when they performed songs off of the Beatles' "White Album."
The cover band was the Imaginary Friends musical alliance, which is composed of members from several local bands, including Break As We Fall and Psuedoboss.
Get your hot springs on
Options for hot springs soaks throughout Oregon
On my newest adventure, I hit highway 26 toward Cougar Hot Springs.
The hot springs are about a quarter mile away from Cougar reservoir. It's $5 to get in, but I didn't sweat the fee … too much. Upon arrival, I looked down at the pools. There were four main ones - all on a hillside.

'The Soloist' gives new meaning to 'music buff'
"The Soloist" is one of those movies. You can tell just by watching the trailers that it's one that warms and breaks the heart at the same time. It's a classic tale of one person trying to help another, but that person isn't sure he wants to be helped.
This is not new territory by any means, but "The Soloist" manages to break away from other similar films with clever directing and a cast that is beyond outstanding.
Pastini Pastaria offers plethora of pastas
9th street establishment offers pasta choices for even pickiest eaters
When driving down 9th, it's easy to miss some of the higher quality eateries that Corvallis offers. Most of the restaurants are hidden amongst the various neon signs that promise deep fried goodies and a larger waistline.
It takes a trained eye to notice the actual finer dining out there.
Makeup makes more than pretty face
Makeup can be used to enhance beauty, mask appearance or influence communications
Many of us use makeup at least on occasion, but rarely do we wonder about where this came from. Why the face?
The obvious answer is that no other part of us is looked at so much and so intently. It is only natural to spend extra time making it look as we would like it to.
