As reported on page one of today's issue of The Daily Barometer, Corvallis didn't experience any unusual surge of alcohol-related crime or debauchery this past weekend in spite of the fact it was Halloween, Homecoming and a home football game. However, the same can't be said about alcohol-related crime around Oregon - and we are wondering why this crime is even happening.

It is Saturday night, Oct. 24, around 9:30 p.m. A 15-year-old high school student waiting for her father to pick her up after the homecoming dance is invited by a classmate she knows to join a group of students drinking behind one of the school buildings.

With the exceptions of religious beliefs, core values and central structures of personality, one may question almost anything introduced to them. From claims, values and other symbolic gestures cast by other people, one may generally choose to accept or reject outside influences.
