Twelve bikes have been stolen from various campus locations since the start of the school year.

One arrest has been made in connection to the crimes.

Oregon State Police Troopers detained one suspect and his friend in connection with the theft of at least two bicycles on Monday in the Circle K parking lot.

One suspect was arrested for possession of burglary tools -- a Class A misdemeanor -- after consenting to a bag search, which revealed bolt cutters, one cut cable lock, hand held radios and other bike tools and lights.

A consented search of the suspect's residence uncovered five bikes, three of which had not been reported stolen yet, two frames, a box of pedals, brakes, lights, handlebars and chains.

The value of all property seized by the OSP is estimated around $3,000.

The suspect matched the description of a reported possible bicycle thief from earlier this month.

The total cost of the 12 bikes reported stolen is about $5,290.

Nine of the bikes were secured with cable locks and one student used both a cable and "U" bolt lock.

The most recent theft reported was on Sun. Oct. 12, about an Eddie Bauer bicycle, valued at $600, taken from Wilson Hall.

The OSP recommend students register their bike serial numbers at the Cascade Hall OSP office and use high-end locks to deter thieves.
