Pop gone cartoon
OutKast's Andre 3000 may invade the tube more often than just over the top music video charts, but not exactly as himself. Cartoon Network is developing a potential series for the wacky dresser and self-proclaimed outcast. Billboard.com stated that the rapper is brainstorming with the network for a 30-minute special for its "Adult Swim" block. The project is still in the early stages, but if it reaches fruition, Andre 3000 may contribute music and the show may have a musical component similar to "Cool World" and "Yellow Submarine." Hey ya!
Beach Boy Brian Wilson will star in a summer episode of Cartoon Network's "Duck Dodgers." Wilson plays himself as a spiritual adviser to the Dodgers, according to Billboard.com. Also check out Wilson's June 22 album release, Getting' in Over My Head.
Ringo, Celine and Courtney
Ringo Starr's little drummer boy Zac Starkey will drum for Oasis at this year's Glastonbury Festival in June.
Celine Dion has cancelled three shows at Las Vegas's Caesars Palace due to a sprained neck but ... her heart will go on, and on.
Get this, Courtney Love can marry people! So, first comes love, then comes marriage? Is that how it works? I worry about our country ... Love married 20 couples at a Nevada casino over the weekend as a mail-order minister, according to MTV.
Radio contest winners were wed by the loud-mouthed, chain-smoking, beer-drinking Love, who presided over the ceremonies in bad taste, no surprise. The winners had a justice of the peace on hand. The singer/ drug addict arrived an 1 1/2 hours late and read vows from a piece of paper she "sometimes gave to the couples to read themselves," according to sources at MTV.com. I wish the couples the best of luck, but if they do end up splitting, will Love be present to belt out her infamous "Take Everything?"
The next 'O.C.'
Due to the success of Fox's "The O.C," the network wants to continue to have fun in the sun but more "Melrose Place-esque," says Sarah Hall, of eonline.com. The show's creator, Josh Schwartz, is supposedly close to signing with the network to develop a similar series of 'livin' on the beach' drama, but wants it to appeal to a slightly older audience, according to sources affiliated with the project.
After just one season, "The O.C." has already captivated the eyes and Wednesday nights of many, and the network thinks the new show will do the same. Daily Variety said Schwartz would work with "O.C." producers McG, Stephanie Savage and Bob DeLaurentiis to continue the beach brainstorming.
Schwartz will write the pilot and serve as executive producer on the new project, as well as keeping his writing and executive producer status for "The O.C." Fox seems excited about the proposal, and, if good-to-go, the new drama could premier as soon as January. "The O.C." held an average of 9.6 million viewers' attention each week and only time will tell if another series of rich catty beach bums can do the same. Schwartz seems to be on to something ... possibly a gold mine?
And don't just think 'Marissa,' 'Ryan,' 'Seth,' and 'Summer' sit around all day in Orange County and squabble about the good life. Adam Brody, who plays Seth Cohen on the show, is teaming up with "mean girl" Lindsay Lohan in a film called "Love and Death at Terrington Prep," according to sources at MTV. Cutie Brody has also stared in the film "Grind" and "Mr. And Mrs. Smith," with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
