About 20 students -- potential candidates and the curious alike -- gathered in ASOSU's Snell Hall offices Wednesday night to hear information about upcoming ASOSU and MUPC elections.

The elections committee, traditionally chaired by the current ASOSU vice president, is being overseen by Annette McFarland, an at-large senator in the Undergraduate Senate.

After introductions, specific issues regarding campaign regulations, position descriptions and election procedure were discussed.

Most notably, approval of campaign fliers, list serv e-mails and affiliates list were explained.

"We want to make sure campaigns are run fairly and equitably," McFarland said.

"We want to work together, above the table, so it can be the most fair election possible."

The deadline for candidates to file their registration form is Thursday at 5 p.m.

On Monday, March 18, eligibility will be determined and confirmations will be sent by the elections committee.

Campaigning will begin the first day of spring term, though McFarland urged potential candidates to register their campaign material for approval by Wednesday of this week, to allow approved campaign posters to be posted the first day of spring term.

If needed, a primary election will be held on April 20 and 21, while general elections will be held April 27 and 28.

Election regulation packets can be picked up at ASOSU offices in Snell Hall or by visiting http://asosu.orst.edu
