Kyle Jeffers, a senior in business administration, shows his laid back personality while taking a break from his hectic, everyday activities.

Upon entering college, students are usually thrown into a world of projects, homework and midterms. If they have time, they join a group or committee. Kyle Jeffers, 21, decided to go all out.

Jeffers was recruited to OSU four years ago from California to play basketball.

Jeff Reinert, assistant basketball coach, said that Kyle will be starting center this year.

This winter, Jeffers will graduate with a business administration degree, and by May 15 he will be in Germany working on his international degree.

While in Europe, Jeffers will take five classes and get a two-week break to travel. He should be returning to the states in August.

Jeffers is unsure about what he would like to do once he returns, but he has a few things in mind.

His ideas include going to graduate school, playing on a professional team in Germany or Italy, or working with Nike on sustainability issues, which is his main goal.

"I enjoy giving back to the community as much as possible," Jeffers said.

With his pleasure in giving back to the community, Jeffers has taken on several projects during this term.

"He is very involved in giving and seeing how he can contribute to others," said Linda Johnson, life skills coordinator of the student athlete advisory committee.

SAAC and the O-Stater club are helping Jeffers with Operation Santa - a group that sends packages to troops overseas during the holiday season.

"He decided this would be another great project for our student athletes to do," Johnson said.

At first, Jeffers was going to be leading everything for the project because the people in charge of Operation Santa last year decided not to take the lead again - a thought that made him a little nervous.

"I was so busy, but when SAAC started to help, things got better," Jeffers said. "I am the voice (of the project)."

Others disagree with Jeffers point of view.

"He is the man in charge," Johnson said of the project.
