Before and after the 110th Civil Football game on Friday, a crowd of fans gathered to watch some big names play in the snow - on snowmobiles.

The Red Bull, Parts Unlimited/SCS demo took place on Ralph Miller Lane outside Reser Stadium.

Fans decked out in orange and black - and some in yellow and green - watched three of the top snowmobile athletes in the world.

Heath Frisby, Kourtney Hungerford and Ryan Britt showed off their skills as they performed an array of tricks, including a back flip.

All three riders signed autographs for fans.

Snow from Mt. Hood was hauled in on 12 truck-loads to Corvallis to make the demo possible.

A ramp allowed the snowmobilers to launch their jumps and another ramp made of snow served as the landing strip.

"It was very expensive," said Chelsea Pecco, who works for SCS Productions.

Sledstyle was recently added to the Winter X Games lineup for upcoming Winter X Games 11 in January.

Frisby and Hungerford will be among the competitors in the Winter X Games.

The idea of bringing a demo to Corvallis has been in the works since the end of last summer. The demo tours the nation and the world.

While there are no plans for any other shows in Corvallis, one might return to town in the future, Pecco said.

As the football game ended, the demo gathered most of the attention as fans flocked from their seats to as close to the fence as they could get.

"It was pretty amazing," said Jake Denton, a Linn-Benton Community College student. "The back flips were awesome."

Each show lasted about 30 minutes.

The goal of the event was to promote the new Winter X Games event.

"It was a huge success," Pecco said.
