HILO, Hawaii - Upon completion of the Hawaii-Hilo Invitational at Waikoloa Village Golf Club on Friday, the Beavers finished in eighth place in a field of 18 teams, five of which are ranked in the top 20 nationally. The Beavers shot 1-over for the day and 16-under (270-273-281; 824) for the tournament on the par-70, 6738 yard course.

In conclusion of the tournament, the Beavers added a handful of statistics to the OSU record books. The first day score of 10-under, 270 broke the school record for lowest team score in a single-round and the 7-under, 273 the following day came in second lowest for a single-round. The team total of 824 is the lowest score in OSU history with the previous mark being at 838. The 16-under-par is the second lowest score relative to par in school history.

Individually, the OSU golfers made some noise in the record books as well. James Allenby's 205 ties for the third-lowest score in school history and Mitch Gillis and Alex Williams' 207 ties them for the fifth-lowest score. This is also the second time Gillis has shot a 207 this season.

"Early, we started slow and didn't execute as well as we would have liked and that left us a little short sided the rest of the way," said OSU coach Brian Watts. "We hung in there after the early struggles and really fought back hard the last 10 or 11 holes. Overall, the guys played well and their attitudes are good and I'm proud of them for that. We showed here that we have some real potential. We just need to keep improving, limit our mistakes, maintain that mind-set of not beating ourselves and really just make a few more putts and we are right there."

Jonathan Moore of Oklahoma State won the invite with a 15-under-par 195. Moore rallied from 17th place on day one to top Roberto Castro of Georgia Tech and Rob Grube and Stanford who finished tied for second with an 11-under-par 199.

Stanford defeated Oklahoma State in a playoff for first place. The teams both shot a sweltering 37-under-par 803.

The Beavers will be back in action Feb. 19 in Florence, Ariz. where they will match up against the University of Washington.
