Reno 911!: Miami

Rating: R

Runtime: 84 minutes

Release Date: Feb. 23, 2007

Summary: If you like the TV show, you're bound to enjoy this foray into the cinematic. And if you don't, you'll be arrested.

The entire cast of the hit Comedy Central show teams up to take on a new locale when in attendance at a national police convention, and the Florida spring break is threatened by terrorist activity.

The absolute horror!

With lines like, "You know, Reno is a lot like Mayberry on the television, except for everyone is on drugs and prostitution is legal," how could you possibly deny your inner urges?

If a two-minute trailer can make you laugh uncontrollably, just think of what an 84-minute movie can do. That's 5,040 seconds of pure, unadulterated police comedy action.

Don't think of all those times you've been let down by the Broken Lizard movies that promise hilarity and deliver stupidity. "Reno 911!: Miami" looks sure to sparkle like a diamond in the hazy fog of Oscar-contending boredom we are all currently experiencing.

Zodiac

Rated: R

Runtime: 107 minutes

Release Date: March 2, 2007

Summary: This summer's official "based on a true story" film is being directed by David Fincher of "Seven" and "Fight Club" fame.

Revolving around a serial killer who puts the San Francisco area in a tizzy and the four officers who become obsessed with the killer's seemingly random and endless clues, this film looks like it could join the ranks of Fincher's previous films.

The casting looks like it's going to work really well. Robert Downey Jr. looks like a dirty druggie, and Jake Gyllenhaal appears to be an over-ambitious little snot. The only problem that could possibly arise is that presented by Mark Ruffalo.

After watching him in "13 Going on 30" and "Just Like Heaven" - and let's not forget that little piece of cinematic gold, "Rumor Has It" - it might be a little difficult to see him as a serious, dramatic actor.

Other than that, "Zodiac" looks like a go.

The Last Mimzy

Rated: PG

Runtime: 94 minutes

Release Date: March 23, 2007

Summary: Some may call it a "Furby gone wild" movie, but this film, based on the short story by Lewis Padgett, looks incredibly fascinating.

Focused mainly on a young girl, her brother and their interactions with a mysterious "toy" that goes by the name Mimzy, this sci-fi adventure looks set to entertain both children and adults.

A massive blackout, a government agenda and a message from the future later, everyone "realizes that they are involved in something incredible," even though they don't know what exactly that might be.

New Line Cinema is probably taking a gamble on this film. Making it look too hokey might alienate adults, but making it too scary will take out the kid factor. Either way, the trailer looks pretty dang cool.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Rated: TBA

Runtime: Unknown

Release Date: March 23, 2007

Summary: Since defeating their arch-nemesis Shredder, the Turtles have drifted apart and lost their direction. This comes at a time when strange occurrences are taking place in New York City. Insane tech-industrialist Max Winters begins putting together an army of ancient monsters in an attempt to take over the world. It's up to Splinter and Leonardo to bring the Turtles back together to foil his evil plan.

Everyone remembers the iconic cartoon series from our youth and the live-action movie trilogy (yeah, it was a trilogy; they went to Japan or something in the third one), not to mention the amazing arcade game Turtles in Time.

So this newest Turtles installment has some large ninja slippers to fill. With its slick new digitally animated format that will undoubtedly allow for more elaborate action sequences than those bulky turtle suits from the mid-1990s did, this new movie looks like it may stack up.
