WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - James Allenby led the Oregon State men's golf team by finishing in a tie for fourth place at the USC Collegiate Invitational, held at North Ranch Country Club, on Tuesday. The Beavers came in 12th place as a team.
Allenby shot his second 2-under 69 of the tournament in Tuesday's third and final round. For the tournament, that gave him a 2-under 211. The tie for fourth place is the best finish this school year for Allenby, who transferred
from UTEP.
As a team, however, the Beavers shot a 298 for the second round in a row, and that gave them a total of 890. Stanford rallied to win the tournament with a 4-under 848.
"What a great tournament James had," OSU Coach Brian Watts said. "He finished strong, birdying two of the last three holes. He gave himself a lot of good looks and finished off well. As a team we struggled on the same stretch of holes as we did yesterday. We dropped quite a few shots there. We've got some work to do and look forward to the next couple of weeks before our next tournament."
The Beavers next event is the Oregon Duck Invitational on March 26-27.
