The new logo for Oregon State athletics will be unveiled in Portland and Corvallis. The logo, which features an orange 'OS' design with a black outline, was designed by Michael Morrow. The new logo, along with the new logotype, is considered an athletics spirit mark, used to represent Oregon State on fields of play and in the retail market.
The new logo, which has already been used by Oregon State baseball, softball and wrestling sports teams, is intended to create an identity for Beaver athletics. According to University Marketing, the change to the OS "came from conversations with these key stakeholders about creating a unique look - a look that could not be confused with any other university in the nation." Some schools that are often confused with Oregon State are Ohio State and Oklahoma State, both of which have OSU abbreviations.
Despite the change to the OS logo, the current Beaver logo will remain the primary mark for the athletic department. The Oregon State University logo will also continue to be used to represent the university in all academic areas.
