An OSU graduate has been reported missing from his home in Salem. Roy Howell, 61, who graduated from OSU in 1991, was last seen May 17. Howell's two adult children went in to check on their father June 4, and found that the only thing missing from the apartment was a riffle.
"We also found out that Howell had purchased ammunition for the riffle," said Lt. Kohl Meyer of the Salem Police Department.
"There's no indication of any criminal activity," Meyer said. "This is a missing person case." There is, however, concern for Howell's safety because of the riffle he reportedly has in his possession and because the only purchase he's made since the disappearance was ammunition for the riffle.
"So far we haven't had any tips and we have no leads to follow," Meyer said.
Howell is about 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, with blue eyes and may have a beard. His truck is a 2004 black Toyota Tacoma with an Oregon license plate 969 BXZ. Anyone with information about Howell's whereabouts should contact Detective Jacob Burke at the Salem Police Department, 503-588-6050, Ext.7163.
