A switchboard from the KBVR performance studio control room at Oregon State University, was reported stolen on Wednesday, July 25. The switchboard was last seen at the KBVR studio Friday, 20 and its value is estimated at $8,500. Lt. Randy Westbrook of the Oregon State Police department is the head investigator on the case.
Westbrook has contacted the OSU maintenance staff regarding the cleaning schedule for KBVR and key access. No conclusions were made by Westbrook and so far there are no leads.
According to the KBVR station manager Jeremy Tricola, there are only four individuals with keys to the control room who had access to the missing switchboard. The machine was used in recording music demos, and other audio tapes. As of now, the station can no longer provide a recording service to OSU students.
A new switchboard was ordered for KBVR before the incident, and will be making to the performance studio control room shortly. "We were actually planning on using both switchboards, but now will have to work with one," Tricola said.
