Student section... color selection

Students are being encouraged - via Facebook invitation and word-of-mouth - to 'blackout' Reser Stadium Saturday for the football game against the Arizona Wildcats.
The idea is to fill at least the student section with as much black-colored clothing and as little orange as possible.
A Facebook group was recently formed in the Oregon State network called 'Black Out Reser.' It was formed by junior in English Casey Grogan. The group's goal is to have as many participants as possible in a 'blackout' of Reser Stadium, as well as to improve support for the Oregon State football team.
The group has already grown in excess of 2,600 members and is still growing.
Many other schools and sports teams have done this before. Earlier this year, on Sept. 2, Penn State successfully conducted a whiteout of their football stadium. One-color specific events have been held at Louisville, Jackson State University and Miami University.
The NBA's Miami Heat has been known for having 'whiteouts' during their games as well, according to www.espn.com.
The buzz around campus is spreading fast and many students are already planning to help blackout Reser Stadium this weekend.
Many students are getting anxious. Alex Dunigan, a junior in the music department, is getting excited about the event.
"If it works it'd probably be the coolest thing I've ever seen," Dunigan said.
When asked if he thought a successful 'blackout' of the student section this week would make 'blacking out' the entire stadium more possible he said, "Yeah I think it would be more likely and a whole stadium of black would be the most intimidating thing I've ever seen."
Other students are a little more skeptical of the idea.
"It's a great idea if everyone will participate, but if some wear orange it won't look right," said Danny Foland, a junior in electrical engineering.
Some students have posted on OregonLive.com with the hope of gaining more supporters for the blackout. Word is beginning to spread amongst the Oregon State alumni as well.
