Anyone who knew Alex Frassenei will say that he loved life. From road trips to Washington for a cup of coffee, to a blissful sleep on a newly renovated hardwood floor of his fraternity house, Frassenei was at the happiest point in his life.

He passed away on Nov. 22 in a car accident in Silverton.

Students and family members gathered in the Memorial Union Thursday evening to remember Frassenei and his spirit, and to pay respect to a guy who "always had a smile on his face."

Frassenei couldn't wait to start college. In fact, he was done with high school before high school was done with him.
"During his senior year he skipped about 30 days of class," said Gail Frassenei, Alex's mother.

"We get a phone call one day and it's Alex, and he says, 'Mom, you got to lie for me,'" said Bob Frassenei, Alex's father. "Next thing you know we get a call from the vice principal."

During his senior year in high school, Alex went through teenage growing pains.

"He was just such a good kid, but he was just ready to be done with high school," Bob said.

"I remember he always used to fall asleep in high school trigonometry," said Raeanne Bochsler, Frassenei's high school friend. "He was named 'Most Likely to Fall Asleep in Class.'"

Frassenei moved to OSU the very first day he could.

"He wanted to be down here first, we got him settled into Buxton that Sunday," Bob said.

OSU changed Frassenei from a shy, reserved teenager to a more mature individual.

"I stopped by his dorm room one day to drop some stuff off, and he came up to me, gave me a hug and said, 'Dad, I love you,'" Bob said. "And I was just like, this is the kid I remember."

Frassenei also decided to join the Chi Phi fraternity.

"He really took it to heart, he really wanted to be in this [Chi Phi] house," Bob said. "He matured and these guys were very instrumental in that process."
