Community 5K walk/run on OSU campus
KidSpirit, College of Health and Human Sciences to put on 5K Walk/Run with proceeds to benefit community programs

OSU KidSpirit serves 1,700 community youths between the ages of 2-18 annually. This program, established in 1960, maintains goals in fostering lifelong skills and friendships in a safe and positive environment.
On March 1 in Corvallis a community 5K Spring Spirit walk/run will be held at the Oregon State University campus starting at 9 a.m. Proceeds for this race will benefit KidSpirit's youth running programs, Girls on the Run and Chefs in Motion, and will be used for scholarships, equipment and other program materials.
Girls on the Run is an international prevention program for preteen girls, grades 3-8, that combines training for a 5K event with self-esteem-enhancing workout. Chefs in Motion is a curriculum-based wellness program for youth that combines running and walking with a nutritional cooking component.
Pre-registration is encouraged online at www.kidspirt.oregonstate.edu/races and costs $15.00. All runners and walkers registered by Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. will receive a free T-shirt. Registration fees increase to $200 after Feb. 24. Day-of registration starts at 8 a.m. and costs $25. The event includes food and raffle prizes.
