This year's Student Employee of the Year Award was given to Khara Croswaite. Selected from 72 nominees, she was nominated for her work with the psychology department. Croswaite is a member of Sigma Delta Omega sorority.

Khara Croswaite, a junior in psychology, was recently awarded the 2008 Student Employee of the Year Award. This year, OSU employers nominated 72 students for the award.

Croswaite was nominated by Frank Bernieri, psychology department chair, and Shirley Dodsworth, psychology department assistant to the chair.

A number of contacts associated with Croswaite also wrote letters in support of her nomination.

"She is absolutely reliable. She provides a great quality of work and she takes the initiative to learn and grow on her own," Dodsworth said.

"She possesses the composure that is 10 years beyond her age."

In order to be eligible for the Student Employee of the Year Award, nominated students were asked to write an essay on how their work experience has influenced other aspects of life.

Croswaite works in the psychology department where she is an administrative student assistant as well as a peer advisor.

"I'm involved in peer advising for psychology majors which allows students who have general class and/or major requirement questions to meet with their peers instead of the main advisors during peak registration dates," Croswaite said.

Croswaite's job responsibilities also include special projects and maintenance of psychology major student files.

Croswaite is commonly described as professional, reliable and unique.

"She is technically our lead student worker," said Shirley Dodsworth, psychology department assistant to the chair.

"We have developed a wonderful working relationship as well as a good friendship."

In addition to her work in the psychology department, Croswaite is the co-social chair of Sigma Delta Omega, a sorority for women in science. She will be taking over as president of the chapter next fall.

"My current position as one of the two social chairs has been a rewarding experience over the past two years," Croswaite said.
