ASOSU ticket out of running before elections
Issue date: 4/29/08 Section: News
Rumors were confirmed Monday that Nadine Honda and Paul Heim have removed themselves from the ASOSU leadership race.
This news comes two days before voting will begin online.
Honda said that the decision to withdraw was "90 percent" hers, due to personal reasons that she is willing to disclose on a one-on-one basis to students and staff.
"Paul has been so selfless and understanding," Honda said, noting her running mate's willingness to support her decision.
An updated list of candidates for all of the positions available has yet to be posted on the ASOSU website, according to Vancil. The deadline for students to apply to be candidates was extended to April 25 and the university is in the process of verifying all names before posting the candidate list.
"We have unopposed races all over the place," said elections committee chairman and MUPC Vice President Matt Vancil. Vancil said that in the written statement Honda and Heim submitted to withdraw from the race, Honda made it clear that she is giving her support to Ryan Mann and Kimberly Knickerson -- the remaining candidates.
