Wednesday at 3:13 p.m., the Corvallis Police Department responded to a call at an apartment complex in the 500 block of N.W. 5th Street, where witnesses said a man was purposely running over people with his vehicle.
Three females reported being struck by the vehicle, which had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived. Through further investigation, officers discovered Wayne W. Gerry, 68, drove to the apartment complex to meet a current tenant. While driving into the parking lot, Gerry was confronted by current tenants and told to leave based on a previous confrontation.
The confrontation escalated and Gerry emerged from his vehicle and began to argue with one of the victims. The situation continued for quite some time.
Gerry was arrested later in the afternoon after driving himself to the police department. He was transported to the Benton County Correctional Facility.
