The Oregon State wrestling program got a boost. Junior Kyle Bressler was named to the 2007-08 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Academic Team, and two more wrestlers have signed National Letters of Intent.

Bressler, a construction engineering major, was the lone Oregon State wrestler named to the All-Academic Team. He was one of 88 total NCAA Division-I wrestlers to make the individual list.

Bressler maintained at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, was an NCAA qualifier or won 60 percent of his total schedule and competed in at least 60 percent of said schedule.

Bressler was one of three Beaver wrestlers to qualify for the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo. He won the Pac-10 title at 197 pounds. It was his second consecutive year qualifying for the championships after earning an at-large bid in 2007 at 184 pounds.

Oregon State recruits Ty Vinson (Great Falls, Mont./Great Falls HS) and Caleb Valloton (Red Bluff, Calif./Foothill HS) have signed Letters of Intent to wrestle for the Beavers next fall.

Vinson is a two-time Montana AA Champion and was the 2007 Junior National Greco Roman Champion. Vinson is projected to wrestle at 174/184 pounds.

Valloton finished fourth at the California State Championships, placing for the second year. He earned All-America honors at the Junior Nationals in Freestyle. Valloton is projected to wrestle at 125/133 pounds.

"Ty and Caleb add depth to the weights we need and are excited about what we're doing here at Oregon State," Oregon State Head Coach Jim Zalesky told osubeavers.com. "They add to the kind of wrestlers who want to work hard to be the best they can be."

Oregon State has had a busy offseason and has already signed Michael Mangrum (Auburn, Wash.) and Jarett "Bubba" Owens (Tillamook, Ore.) during the early signing period in November.

Wrestling will kick off the 2008-09 season in Auburn, Wash., on Saturday, Nov. 15, hosting Simon Fraser at 7:00 p.m.
