Definitely worthy of its name, Divine is Oregon State's premier female a cappella group. Founded in 2003 by five female OSU students, the group has expanded to 14 members.

The girls of Divine come from different backgrounds and majors, but all of them share a passion for singing.

Since its creation, Divine has performed for Mom's Weekend activities, Relay for Life, "The Vagina Monologues," on the Portland Spirit and at many other venues. Every Friday the group performs in the brick mall outside the OSU Bookstore at 4 p.m. with Outspoken, the male equivalent of Divine.

This Saturday, May 17, Divine will perform in a concert with Outspoken and Willamette University's a cappella group, Headband.

The concert starts at 5:30 p.m. in Milam Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for the general public. They can be purchased at the door or in advance during their Friday performance by the OSU Bookstore.

Divine's repertoire includes arrangements of "Across the Universe," originally done by the Beatles; "Apologize" by Timbaland featuring OneRepublic; "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles; and the theme song from the Nickelodeon show "All That."

Most of the songs Divine performs were arranged by Alyssa Dart, a member of the group.

Divine will be holding auditions on May 20 at 7:15 p.m. in Weatherford Hall. Anyone is welcome to audition with a prepared song of the singer's choice to perform.

For more information on the group and upcoming events, check out divineosu.com or the group's Facebook page.
