Since the public phase of the Campaign for OSU has been launched, the Oregon State University Foundation has raised $126 million. This is $50 million more than the previous record set by the Foundation.

The Campaign for OSU has reached their goal of $450 million 2.5 years early, according to Ray.

The Foundation accepted 550 gifts of $150,000 or more and 171,000 campaign gifts and pledges.

"These are wonderful gifts of support," Ray said.

In terms of funding for scholarships and fellowships, OSU has raised $70 million of a $100 million goal.

Ray's State of the University address focused on a need to update the university's strategic plan: Increasing first-year retention rates and improving graduation rates for six-year students.

Ray suggested that students who are considered to be "at risk" should be pushed into the OSU Bridge to Success program.

Ray said that the updated strategic plan should be completed by February 2009.

Ray also mentioned that faculty will see salary increases in the next year.

"We cannot afford not to go forward with those increases," Ray said.
