The importance of leadership and accountability
Chris Topham
Issue date: 11/14/08 Section: Forum
Sometimes I find myself really wondering what the hell I'm writing about, and right now is no exception. But I think I've stumbled onto a good point here, so bear with me.
When the day is over and the last candle has burned itself out, the only thing left to a person is just the reflection in the mirror or inner truth that lies buried inside you as you toss and turn in your sleep. Indeed, some of those individuals who we think have slighted us in some way may deserve our negative opinions and condescending remarks, but at the end of the day, what kind of person does that really leave us as? And for that matter, is being right about one person worth being wrong about who knows how many others? I mean, is that really what you woke up this morning and decided to do?
Sometimes the ebb and flow of whatever crap life has in store for us seems to do more flow than we are deserving of, but part of what makes a person is how they deal with everything when the cards are down. The key to happiness is not found at the bottom of a bottle, or in some bombshell that sweeps you off your feet or even in the fountain of youth, but rather in being able to really look deep down at who you are and to know you are not living for the wrong reasons. Live to be ... happy.
