The concert was put on in an effort to promote activities available for students in the Basement.
The first band to play was All the Money, a two-member band from Portland who has been playing together for a couple of years.
They described their sound as second wave/new wave, and played music that most of the crowd wasn't familiar with.
Most students were impressed with the free live music and appreciated the opportunity to broaden their musical horizons.
While things were slow for the first band, the crowd started filling up the Basement by the time the second band was ready to perform.
In Pursuit Of is a local favorite who came in second last year at OSU's Battle of the Bands. Their style is pop/rock/experimental, and the audience felt they brought a great energy and great sound to the MU Basement.
"These guys are amazing and they're really passionate about what they do," said Crystal Stewart, a freshman in graphic design.
The third and final band to perform was Honest to Empire, the first place winners at the Battle of the Bands this year. This band brought more of a metal edge to the concert that the crowd responded to.
"[Honest to Empire is] one of the best expressions of talent to come across the Corvallis stage," Stephanie Sasse said of the band. Sasse is a sophomore and a music reviewer for Portland State University.
Their performance garnered an encore request from the audience, to which the band responded with a cover of Michael Jackson's Billy Jean.
The drummer of Honest to Empire, Charley McGowan, is also the former president of the OSU Musicians Guild. The organization is responsible for setting up bands with events on campus in need of live music. The Guild arranged for the bands to perform that night.
Also at the concert were five students attempting to raise money for a charity called To Write Love on Her Arms.
