Fifteen to 25 students may attend. There is an application deadline on Feb. 19, 2009.
Students who are interested in finding out more information should attend the winter study abroad fair sponsored by international programs. The fair is in MU 109 on Jan. 21, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information on how to apply, students should contact the instructors at OSU.Scandinavia.09@oregonstate.edu or http://scandinavia.forestry.oregonstate.edu/. In addition, the class also has a Facebook group, titled ScanTour.
"I am interested in going on the Scandinavia trip. What I'm hoping to get out of the trip is global experience," said Ashlee Tibbets, a senior in wood science and engineering.
"I haven't been to any other countries, and I believe that a person's marketability greatly depends upon their experiences. Global experience is becoming more and more important in a world that is so diverse. I would hope to not only have a good time, but also be engrossed in a different culture for a while. We're so closed-minded in America, it's hard to remember that there are so many other people in the world living completely different lifestyles than us."
