Eight of the nine last meetings Oregon State has had with Cal have been unsuccessful. Ashley Walker leads the Golden Bears, averaging 20.6 points per game as well as 8.1 rebounds per game. Last week, Alexis Gray-Lawson was named Pac-10 player of the week which also marks the third time this season that a Cal player has received the honor.

Stanford's Jayne Appel is currently leading the Cardinals averaging 14.6 points per game, and Kayla Pedersen follows with 11.4. Stanford is known for dominating in the paint. Appel and Pedersen combined for 32 points on 13-for-25 shooting (52.0 percent), 16 rebounds and five assists while limiting California's posts to just 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting and 11 rebounds last weekend.

"We just have to keep stepping up and finishing out the little things we've been struggling with in the past," freshman center Kirsten Tilleman said. "We're really focusing on that this week in practice."

Tilleman had her first career start last weekend against Washington State where she scored six points and had three rebounds. She also started Saturday's game against the Huskies and scored three points and five rebounds.

"We need to continue to stay connected so we can beat them as a team," Tilleman said.

It will be a competitive weekend for women's basketball. The Beavers take on the California Golden Bears starting Thursday evening at 7 p.m. Tip-off Saturday against the Stanford Cardinals is also at 7 p.m. at Legendary Gill Coliseum.
