For Oregon State women's basketball, the halfway mark has officially hit.

After defeating Oregon on Duck turf last Saturday 61-42, the Beavers are ready to start the second circulation of Pac-10 play.

The Beavers started out with a nearly perfect preseason going 11-1, along with a Pac-10 conference record for 3-point shots made, set by sophomore guard Talisa Rhea. Now they are 12-7, and 3-6 in the Pac-10. Overall, the Beavers have done well and competed so far this season. Once conference play started, it all changed for the Beavers.

The Pac-10 conference is one of the toughest women's basketball conferences in the country. The Pac-10 is home to No. 3 Cal and No. 7 Stanford.

For the seniors on the team, center Tiffany Ducker and guards Mercedes Fox-Griffin and Brittney Davis, this will be their last chance at defeating schools in the West. All three women are strong players that contribute a huge amount to the team. The Beavers will likely miss the trio at the end of the season, however, the good news is the Beavers have a fairly young team full of talent that will soon replace the senior superstars.

Leading scorer Rhea has been averaging 14.4 points per game along with Davis who follows Rhea with 12.8. Ducker is still leading in boards with 129 rebounds, 87 of which are on the defensive end and 42 on the offensive glass. Sophomore center Alex Mitchell has already begun to follow Ducker's footsteps this season with 108 rebounds, 63 defensive and 45 offensive.

For the second circuit of conference play, the Beavers will be looking to pick up more wins. With a big rivalry win against Oregon under their belt, the Beavers will have a confident fresh start. This week, they travel to the sunshine to match up against the Arizona schools.

The first time around didn't fare so well for the Beavers as they fell 61-36 to Arizona State and 68-43 to Arizona. Against UA, Rhea was 0-6 from beyond the arc and only had seven points during the game. The stats were few and far between as the Beavers struggled to put up shots and were 27.5 percent shooting. Arizona was an improvement as Rhea was 5-10 for 3-pointers and had 21 points overall. Fox-Griffin handed out six assists while Ducker led with nine boards.
