After two straight weekends at home, the OSU gymnasts head for Palo Alto, Calif. for the first of two weeks on the road.

Seemingly inching closer and closer to the 197 mark, the Beavers are set to meet the No. 4 Stanford Cardinal on Sunday. Also competing in the meet will be the UC Davis Aggies.

Having dropped the last meet against the Cardinal, Oregon State is on a few different missions this weekend at Maples Pavilion. The Beavers look to take advantage of their settings this weekend, as Maples Pavilion will be the host site for the 2009 Pac-10 Championships in March.

"It is a great opportunity to compete in the venue we'll compete in for Pac-10 Championships," head coach Tanya Chaplin said. "It gives us the opportunity to compete there, see the set up, know what the lighting is like and perform routines before that."

Oregon State would like to be the first team to defeat the undefeated Cardinal, who OSU holds a 49-23 all-time advantage over. Standing in the way of an OSU victory is a strong Stanford squad, which features one of the top one-two punches in the nation in senior Nicole Ourada and junior Carly Janiga.

"I think it is going to be a challenge, but I don't think they are unbeatable," junior Mandi Rodriguez said. "We have to do the same things we have been doing - going in confident and having strong performances throughout the lineups."

In the all-around, Ourada is second in the nation averaging 39.5, while Janiga is fourth with an average score of 39.437. On the uneven parallel bars, Janiga is also No. 4, posting an average of 9.895 on the apparatus; at No. 4 on balance beam, Ourada has posted a high score of 9.925.

Not to be left out by the two top 10 teams, they will be competing against the Aggies who are looking to break the 192 mark for the first time this season. UC Davis is lead by junior Tanya Ho, who has posted the highest individual score of the year for the Aggies when she posted a 9.875 on bars in the third meet of the year against Air Force.
