Joining the Beavers this year as a possible starter is University of Pacific transfer Waldron. Starting in all 15 games he played in for the Tigers in 2008, Waldron recorded 63 strikeouts and a team high 91 2/3 innings pitched.

From there the list only gets harder with the Beavers' middle relief and closers. Setting up for coach Casey in 2009 will be Kraig Sitton, Kyle Foster, Mark Grbavac and Brad Kidd. The Beavers hope to see Grbavac step up as a leader considering he is one of few fourth-year players.

Wrapping up the pitching staff are two overpowering units in Kevin Rhoderick and Taylor Starr. Rhoderick collected a list of honors during his freshman season with the club, showing complete dominance with an ERA 2.39. With 32 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched, Rhoderick's success will go hand in hand with the team. Starr will contribute his talents in the both the set-up and closer positions hoping to do continue his work from '08. Holding his opponents to a batting average of .205, Starr had a team-high ERA of 1.61.

With only the standouts being named, many freshman wait in the wings for their first debuts. Expect the rotation to change for every series this season, as Casey hopes to utilize each of his weapons strategically.
