Beavers control Volunteers
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Oregon State baseball team came out in the second game of a three-game series at Tennessee Saturday, posting eight runs in the ninth for a 14-4 rout of the host Volunteers at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Ryan Ortiz was 3-for-6 to lead the 13-hit Beaver attack, which saw Stefen Romero hit his first career home run and drive in three and Joey Wong finish with two hits for the second straight game. After being down 3-0 after the first four innings, the Beavers came on strong, outscoring Tennessee, 14-1. For the rest of the way, the Beavers posted at least one run in each of the last five innings.

Safeco return trip
CORVALLIS - The Oregon State baseball team announced two changes to its 2009 schedule on Monday. First, Washington and Oregon State will play the first game of their three game series, on May 8, at Safeco Field, home to Major League Baseball's Seattle Mariners.
Secondly, Oregon State announced on Monday that its home opener against Portland March 17 has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. The Beavers' 2009 home opener will now take place March 19 against Utah Valley at 5 p.m.

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The Oregon State softball team (7-8) was held scoreless as it fell 6-0 to Georgia Tech (8-5) in the Cathedral City Classic closer on Sunday morning.
Two Oregon State batters earned singles with sophomore Audrey Roderfeld leading off the second inning, while junior Dani Chisholm led off the fourth inning with an infield single. The Beavers drew three walks as well.
