The piece "God Didn't Use A Condom," which is a part of the Condom Art Gallery, is on display in Fairbanks Hall's Art Underground. The gallery will be set up throughout the week for SEXapalooza.

Safe sex is among the most heavily promoted ideas available on college campuses across the country. Fliers and posters like the "Get it on" campaign advertise condoms and dental dams as a safer way to approach sex than the unprotected alternative. These are scattered across campus, encouraging cautious practices.

This week, SEXapalooza aims to spice up the old rhetoric by teaching and displaying various forms to show love without actually doing the act, promoting safe sex and prompting students to talk about sex openly.

The point is to entertain but also to inform and put a new spin on the sexual education lessons pressed upon students since high school.

The venue to openly talk about sex and its practice is rare and usually heavily appreciated since the very word is associated with such negative stigma in American culture.

This week, SEXapalooza will host a variety of events, including the Condom Art Gallery, the week-long exhibit at the Fairbanks Art Underground.

Today's events include a lecture on authentic sex from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Women's Center as well as a presentation by Dr. Robert Nye from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in MU 211 on the history of sexuality and its ability to change lives.

Tonight, Open Mic Nite at Bombs Away Café will be available from 7 to 9 p.m. for those hoping to jump on the mic and express their thoughts.

Tomorrow from 6 to 7 p.m., the MU Ballroom will host a safer sex party, followed by the Safer Sex Couture Fashion Show from 7 to 9 p.m.

Friday will see a LGBTQQIA: Safer Sex 101 lecture from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Women's Center and the judging of the Condom Art Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m.
