You know, being a metalhead, it can get pretty hard to experience other types of music. Somehow I manage though, and sometimes I even surprise myself.
When I heard the Jonas Brothers were making a 3-D concert spectacular, I was intrigued. I've been to many concerts myself, but I was curious as to how the other side of the spectrum lived.
I wasn't disappointed.
Where do I begin to address the magic that Kevin, Joe and Nick brought to the world? If you are already a fan, you may know that genius. But as a new fan, I am awestruck. What they can squeeze into an hour and a half concert/3-D extravaganza is something that left me breathless. How often is it that a band sells out Madison Square Garden, and I get to sit front row center? Very little, if ever.
First, I have to comment on the ticket price. Yes, it was a little high, but what do you expect? I mean the audience is really a part of the show, right up front in 3-D. For cheaper than the price of a nosebleed section, you can be a part of the action and literally watch the sweat drip off the boys as they rock out, which is totally worthy of my $20 movie ticket.
The entire movie is not just the concert. This is nice because it gave me a chance to slow my heartbeat and see how the Jonas Brothers live behind the scenes.
Surprisingly, they live just like any other multi-million dollar teen. They eat, sleep, wave to fans and even buy their own CDs. Yes, there is a scene during the movie of their CD release in Times Square where the boys made an appearance to purchase their own album. How heroic. It also shows us how "Big Rob" nurtures the boys like a mother. Wait. Where are their parents anyway? Maybe they are just too cool for parental guidance - what rebels.
The concert is something of a mind-explosion in itself. The boys utilized pyrotechnics and a live orchestra to really push the 3-D effects to the limit. It made me feel as if I were actually there. We got some really great close-ups of the boys, which was amazing. There's nothing better than a 30-foot smile from Nick as his eyes make love to my soul.
