Beavers can win it all

It's April and the Beaver baseball team isn't the only OSU team still playing.

Raise your hand high if you knew that would happen.

Yeah, me neither.

Tonight the guys in black and orange will take on the Miners of Texas-El Paso in game two with a chance to win it all on the hardwood. I think we all know they will win this thing and the celebration can get kicked off in Corvallis.

With players and coaches riding in convertibles and trucks, the victory parade route through Corvallis will wind it's way from Cheldelin Middle School to Timberhill, through downtown, and eventually will come to an end in front of Gill Coliseum. The parade is set to start at noon on either Thursday or Saturday, whichever is the day after the Beavers post their championship-clinching win.

"It's no inauguration, but we will certainly take it," said Coach Robinson when informed of the parade plans. "I'll try not to get caught on TV yawning this time," he added.

Some said the Beavers should not have played in the CBI after finishing their season at 13-17. Corvallis and Beaver Nation is at a fever pitch following four straight March victories that have the Beavers on the precipice of a championship none of us could have seen coming just three short weeks ago.

It would be more fitting if the parade were to take place on Saturday during the Final Four in Detroit. Given the fact that four teams from conferences east of the Mississippi will be playing, nobody is going to be watching that anyway. Does anyone really care who wins the NCAA tournament? We all know that the CBI is where the marbles are.

UCLA has won 11 tournament titles and Kentucky has won seven. Where are they now? Sitting and watching, one is looking for a new head coach.

The Beavers have a chance to tie Tulsa for the most all-time CBI tournament titles in the history of college basketball. Can the Final Four match that type of record-making possibility? Three of the four teams in Detroit have already won titles this decade and have multiple championships on the ledger.
