When I was back in Australia, I had a certain idea about how spring break plays out. From watching it in the movies and on American TV shows, all I pictured was bikinis and crazy parties.

My spring break didn't exactly match the stereotypical American spring break. The gymnastics team stayed in Corvallis and trained all week. With the population reaching as high as five people, we had to find ways to stay entertained.

One idea that worked was creating a 'class' day at training. As long as it's consistent with the teammates that are in the same year in school, you can dress in whatever you like for practice. The goal is to outdo the other classes.

True to reputation, our sophomores always come through with something incredibly stupid. Being spring break and all, they wore bikinis and floating devices over their training tights. If they can't go to environments of spring break, they bring it to the gym.

I love this aspect of college gymnastics. We know how to get the job done, but at the same time we have fun doing so.

It was nice not having any school, but toward the end of the week, I couldn't wait for school to start again so some people would return to C-town. That feeling went away once classes started again.

I recently changed my major and it meant that I had to do Math 111. I am really bad at math. I got five on my math placement test. In my defense, I did take that test after 32 hours of flying to this country and I wasn't in the mood to do math.

Some people told me to do Math 111 through EOP (Educational Opportunity Program). I was told that this program takes the class a little slower and makes it easier to learn. So I tried to get in, but they turned me down because of my math placement test score. They told me I shouldn't be doing Math 111.

Although they are probably right, I'm a stubborn person. So in my master plan to prove them wrong, I'm taking Math 111 normally. If anything makes me work harder, it's trying to prove someone wrong.

I'll keep you updated on how I go.

Us gymnasts are already away from class this week as we have regionals this weekend in Ohio. The top two teams from the six regional locations go to nationals.

This is the second to last competition of our season. It feels like our whole season has lead up to this moment. Every meet and ever practice has been to prepare us for this. Our team is ready.

We have put in the hard work and now it's time to reap the benefits.
