In the coming weeks, ASOSU presidential and vice presidential candidates will be vying for votes in the upcoming election.

One of those parties consists of presidential candidate Jill Ferris and running mate Chon Madrigal.

Ferris' experience comes from working with the ASOSU task force, starting out this year as assistant director of state affairs. She is currently director of the Governmental Affairs Task force. At the beginning of the year she helped facilitate the Get The Vote Out Campaign, in which her responsibilities included campaigning and directing staff. She is a junior majoring in business marketing.

Madrigal is the current director of social resources and has been working with ASOSU for around three years. Part of his responsibilities includes managing a $90,000 MealBux budget, which he is currently advocating to increase funds for. Madrigal also spent two years serving on the Student Alumni Association board of directors. Madrigal is active within the Greek community as a member of the fraternity Phi Delta Thelta, where he had served as president. He is a junior who is double majoring in psychology and Spanish.

Ferris and Madrigal are running on the platform of trust, responsibility, experience and conviction. They want to make sure that finances are made available to be viewed by students to ensure the students know where their money is going. They want to increase communication between student government and OSU cultural centers to make certain every student's voice is heard. They also plan to conduct research on minorities who may not be currently represented on campus and make sure they are given a voice.

"Some groups don't have a voice on campus, only because they don't know how to maintain those resources or get those resources to have their voices heard," Madrigal said.

They also want to continue developing such student resources, which are becoming increasingly popular among a troubled economy.

"One goal is keeping the necessary programs afloat. An example is MealBux. It is in high demand but we are not able to reciprocate and address the direct need to all students. I think it's really important that we focus on keeping programs that are a necessity right now abundant in the future, especially with issues of the economy," Madrigal said.
