The Other Side

Tomorrow night the Student Athlete Advisory Committee of Oregon State University will be hosting The Other Side Talent Show and Silent Auction. The Other Side is an annual showcase of talents that student-athletes have apart from their fields of competition and outside of the classroom. Performances in the past have included singing, dancing, musical performances and stand-up comedy.

The talent show is a fundraiser, which began in honor of the late Stephen Hensor and Joe Zaher, who, as members of the OSU men's soccer team, passed away in 2002.

Each year the show and auction is put on to raise money for local and national programs; the 2009 edition will raise money for OSU Impact Program. The OSU Impact Program is a Corvallis-based program that serves children with disabilities. At OSU, about 80 children with varying abilities come to campus each week to learn important movement skills and address ongoing concerns for healthy lifestyles.

The Other Side Talent Show and Silent Auction will be held Thursday, April 9 in the Austin Auditorium at the LaSells Stewart Center. The auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the talent show starting at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the event at $5 for adults, $3 for students and free for children under the age of 5.
