It's on the road again for the second time this week for the Oregon State women's softball team (19-18, 2-5 Pac-10), as they head to Eugene to face off with the University of Oregon in the Civil War.

Wednesday, the Beavers began building up their momentum and swept the doubleheader against the Portland State Vikings 10-3 in the first game and 5-0 in the second.

The Beavers also totaled seven home runs over the two games against the Vikings, with seniors, second baseman Paige Lowe and catcher Stefanie Ewing each taking home a pair. Ewing hit .571 Wednesday, going 4-7 with five RBI and three putouts. For the two games combined, the Beavers racked in 18 hits and 15 runs.

Freshman outfielder Ashley Sanchez picked up her first career home run against the Vikings. Sophomore catcher Audrey Roderfeld also picked up another home run to total her at 16 career home runs during her time so far at Oregon State.

Roderfeld still leads the batting average at .343 with 16 runs and 35 hits and with Ewing close behind at .329 including 13 runs and 27 hits on the season.

In the second game, the Vikings attempted to hold the Beavers off in a scoreless first inning, but not before junior Tarah Black led off with a base hit and sophomore fielder Erin Guzy reached on a one-out walk, advancing to second and eventually third. Then Lowe came in to clear out the field making the game 3-0 as the Vikings gave up two more runs and left the second game in a shut out.

Now it's on to the Ducks (12-22, 1-6 Pac-10) in a two game series Friday and Saturday this weekend. Oregon, who falls last in the conference, has had struggles of their own trying to put wins on the scoreboard.

"We had the most fun practice of the year on Tuesday," Ewing said. "We scrimmaged each other and it was relaxed but it was intense. It was good for us, I think everyone had a good time."

By the sound of things, it seems like the Beavers are ready for Civil War battle.
