Today is the last day to log onto Blackboard and cast your vote in the ASOSU primary elections.

Though many students don't pay attention to the politics on campus, it doesn't mean they are unimportant.

The Barometer continues to report stories about the activities of senators and the ASOSU presidential and vice presidential candidates, and we hope you're paying attention, because some of those stories show the need for students to get involved in their own representation.

The ASOSU president represents OSU students statewide and nationwide. This person, this ticket, that is selected by students, will act as our voice in making decisions and swaying our government to support OSU.

This means you should vote.

The behavior of our ASOSU leaders reflects on all of us, and that means that it is more important than ever.

One vote - your vote - will be more important than ever.

We need a strong leader for our student body, to protect the integrity of OSU, to protect our ability to get jobs and to protect the funding that is given to this university.

As of Wednesday, around 800 people have cast their vote in the primary election - however, nearly 20,000 students have the ability to vote.

Our ASOSU president should be elected by a majority of students, not just a majority of voters.

That means you need to vote.

OSU is on the chopping block, just like our Pac-10 neighbors; rumor has it that the women studies department at the University of Washington is being drastically reduced.

Our ASOSU leaders need to understand how to contact our legislators and fight for our school. They need to be able to fight for post-secondary education as a whole.

Our ASOSU leaders need to be organized and effective. And you get to decide who these leaders are.

Get involved. Cast a vote.

It's pretty simple, and it's just one question. You vote for one of three tickets for the ASOSU president.

Voting ends Thursday at midnight - you're running out of time.

After the primary, the general debate between the two remaining tickets will take place on April 21 from noon to 2 p.m., and the general election will take place on April 22 and 23.

We're not going to tell you who to vote for, but you can visit the ASOSU elections website for more details about the candidates: http://asosu.oregonstate.edu/elections/meet_the_candidates/index.php.
