The search continued in Central Oregon yesterday for OSU freshman Alex Thompson, 19, who disappeared on Saturday afternoon while crossing a river with his friends.

After two days of searching with no leads, the search has transformed from a rescue mission to a recovery mission, according an article by The Oregonian.

Thompson was said to have vanished around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, and most likely slipped and was carried away by the swift current of the Crooked River.

According to the same article, about 20 searchers continued looking for Thompson on Monday. Meanwhile, his parents, David and Susan Thompson, remained at Smith Rock State Park in Deschutes County. More than a dozen friends and family members joined them, some flying in from out of state upon hearing the news.

After two full days of searching for Thompson with no trace of evidence, he has been presumed to be dead.
