Unrestrained excitement for ASOSU elections

Normally I don't get too excited, but I must admit I am pretty pumped. What could have me so excited?
Could it be because "Gossip Girl" returned this week? No - however, that is something everyone should be pumped for. Excited that today is Earth day? No - this whole global warming thing is just a fad.
I am excited because the greatest thing this world has ever seen is here today: ASOSU general election. I don't want to overstate the importance of this election, but this is the biggest election of our lifetime and will no doubt change the world.
The fact that this election is so important would explain the feedback I have received from my fellow OSU students when I ask them about the election. The sense of enthusiasm and excitement felt by students here is palpable, with only the presidential election night and the Civil War football game being higher.
Sure, some of the students try to hide their excitement by saying they don't even know who is running, but I know they are just being coy. There are few troublemakers who shockingly don't care who wins the election, saying it won't matter; those poor, poor students don't realize what they are missing.
I remember last year when I was on Bloss' Hall Council and current ASOSU President Ryan Mann and ASOSU Vice President Kimberly Nickerson came and spoke on the behalf of their candidacy. While President Mann was talking, I thought to myself, "Wow this guy could be next Barack Obama," which would make Vice President Nickerson Joe Biden, of course. Mann's stump speech was one of the best speeches I have ever heard. Only Sarah Palin's vice presidential nomination speech and any George W. Bush speech of the last eight years possibly top it.
The excitement those two brought that night not only got me excited for their possible reign but inspired me to better myself.
I was inspired even more when soon after the election happened, I never heard from Mann and Nickerson again. You see, they don't worry about, you know, engaging with the students.
