OSU will be participating in an earthquake preparedness drill today at 10 a.m.
During that time OSU will test the Emergency Alert System.
The drill will be done to see how well the emergency alert system will work and how many students it will reach successfully.
To receive an alert you must be logged onto the OSU system.
It is suggested that individuals who already have logged onto the system should review and update their information before the drill.
To access the system, go to http://alert.oregonstate.edu/ and select "Enter your emergency contact information" located on the upper left part of the page.
Then enter your ONID e-mail address and OSU ID number when prompted and then enter contact information.
Students should make sure to give the telephone numbers and e-mail addresses that you can best be reached at in case of a real emergency.
You can enter six phone numbers, two e-mail addresses and one text message number.
In previous emergency situations it has been found that information gets sent to cell phone and landline numbers faster than OSU landlines.
E-mail addresses and text messages are sent within a few minutes of the emergency message being sent.
