Robinson's recruits

The Oregon State men's basketball program rounded out one of its most highly-touted recruiting classes in school history as Angus Brandt signed a National Letter of Intent with the Beavers, head coach Craig Robinson announced.

Brandt joins Joe Burton, Jared Cunningham, Rhys Murphy and Roberto Nelson as players who have signed with the Beavers. The group forms one of the most decorated men's basketball signing classes in program history as the group is ranked No. 21 in the nation by Rivals.com and No. 8 in the nation by hoopscooponline.com.

"We are extremely pleased to bring in a class of this caliber," head coach Craig Robinson said. "It is an athletic and intelligent group as each player brings skill sets that will fit well with our system. We finished the season on a great note and a signing class such as this will keep the program heading in the right direction."

Another Aussie

For the second year in a row, Oregon State head gymnastics coach Tanya Chaplin has gone to the Australian National Team to recruit a talented gymnast during the spring signing period, Chaplin announced Monday.

Melanie Jones (Melbourne, Australia) will join the Beavers in time for the 2009-2010 season.

Jones, a member of the Australian National Team, was the team's alternate for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Currently, Jones is training for the 2009 World Championships, which are set to take place in London, England in October. At the 2008 Australian National Championships, Jones earned top 10 finishes on all four events, finishing second on the vault; ninth on bars, beam and in the all-around; and 10th on the floor. She also earned a third-place finish in the vault and a 10th-place finish on the bars at the 2007 national championships.
