ASOSU elections: Weak argument in support of candidates
Issue date: 4/27/09 Section: Forum
President Ryan Mann, while we are finally happy to hear something from you, it is disheartening to see that the voice this university has honored to look up to is writing to our newspaper and sharing a completely biased and unprofessional outlook/expectation on the election for next year's ASOSU President and Vice President.
Since you have shared that "it does not take a specific set of skills and there is not a particular experience that would best prepare someone for this office," we question the amount of faith our campus had and the lack of preparation on your part when we elected you.
As far as considering the amount of knowledge one must have to hold a position that speaks for all, as president you have stated that you feel "nobody could be completely ready for this job from day one." Then you go on to state your endorsement, giving full support to candidates based off a "hunch." You stress numerous times "for all students," even though your endorsement conveniently fell on Election Day, sharing your bias publicly.
This is unprofessional and completely uncalled for. Like us all you have the right to vote, but as our president, who we are supposed to look up to, you should at least emulate the most important attribute of a leader, respect.
