"Chris and I were very careful to attend all elections meetings. We knew that elections packet very well so we're surprised to have had those violations attached to our victory," Schock said.

"However, we are excited that we now get to work. This campaign was founded upon the principle that we would have to work really hard. We're excited to bring that dedication and passion for hard work to our administration."

Van Drimmelen added that they were thankful for all who supported their campaign.

"We understand that this was a close election and really want to bring some unity to the student body because a divided ASOSU is not an effective ASOSU," Van Drimmelen said.

"The opportunity to work with our former opposition is something that we're looking forward to. We'd like to thank everyone who supported us and, even more than that, everyone who turned out to vote. This election just goes to show that every vote makes a difference."

The ASOSU inauguration of all winning elected members and their hired staff will take place May 21 at 6 p.m.
