Recently an OSU student in biology, Virginia Rafaelle, was flown to New York City in order to appear on the Tyra Banks Show for her resemblance to a certain celebrity.
Previously posted on the show's website were advertisements searching for people to be on the show, featured as a Kim Kardashian look-alike.
The ad called for those who were often mistaken for the socialite and TV personality to send in their photo and a story about the regular interruptions in their everyday life.
Kim Kardashian is featured on the E! reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," which follows the daily life of the family and is produced by Ryan Seacrest. She was also made famous by a sex-tape scandal in 2007.
Rafaelle has been exploring the world of modeling for the past seven months. During that time she has done more than 30 photo shoots with several different photographers in Portland, Corvallis and Eugene.
One of the photographers, Jayce Giddens, uploaded one his photos to his Flickr account with a caption about how Rafaelle looked like Kim Kardashian.
The assistant producer of the Tyra Banks show was surfing the internet for look-alikes when he found the photo and contacted Rafaelle personally.
Rafaelle said she thinks she only looks like Kardashian when her hair and makeup is styled in a way similar to Kardashian's. In her everyday look, however, she doesn't see the resemblance.
"I've actually been told I look like Eva Longoria more than Kim Kardashian," Rafaelle said.
The show flew Rafaelle to New York City, all expenses paid. She went by herself for the one-day and one-night trip, and said she spent most of her time flying.
She was only in New York from April 8 at 6 a.m. until the next morning at 4 a.m. and said she only slept for four hours at the hotel, which was near Central Park.
Before the show she was able to walk around the city and see some sites such as Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building and 5th Avenue.

I don't really think that the newspaper should be glorifying a student who goes on tv for a look alike contest and talks about how beautiful she is. There are many students making truly beneficial contributions or doing something of actual merit. (Continued…)

I couldn't agree more with Ashley. This doesn't belong on the front page. For the life of me, I don't see why major world news isn't on the front page. (Continued…)

This article is lacking without a photo...

While I agree that this probably isn't frontpage worthy and I would like to see more important major world news grace the cover rather than the usual tripe, I think condemning the woman for having looks that got her onto TV is rather unfair. (Continued…)
